ROX files are saved using XML formatting. They contain references to the files to be burned as well as the disc information, such as the title, length, and track information.
Roxio Creator generates a default filename for ROX files that includes a the type of disc and a date and time string. For example, an audio compilation may have the name BurnAudioCDs_01-01-2010_123456.rox. The user may choose to create his or her own custom name.
